BIOGRAPHY

Simon Solomon Webbe was born on the 30th of March, 1979, so he's the oldest member of the group. He was born in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Manchester. He had a great childhood and loved where he lived. He was good at sports and the captain of the football team. Football was his passion and he thought that he would play when he grew up. He admired pop stars like Michael Jackson but never dreamed of being a pop star. He was a very talented football player, he got signed to teams like Port Vale and Stoke. He played for England in tournaments against Ireland and Scotland when he was 14. He had his first kiss when he was nine, and his first French kiss was when he was 12.

For years, Simon had his heart set on being a professional footballer and was signed to Port Vale, before being poached by Stoke City. This was after he'd been approached by Derby County, Birmingham City, Liverpool and Shrewsbury Town.

His first real relationship was when he was 15, with a girl he had known since he was 7. Simon was once a male model. His mate entered him into a Pride magazine competition and he won the award for Face of 98. This gave him a taste of the good life, he got to attend celeb parties and met stars like P. Diddy. He started a hip hop act with his mate DJ Shifty, they were called Criminal Damage. An injury shattered Simon's chances of becoming a professional footballer, so he headed off to London and meet the other Blue members at auditions. Antony describes him as 'funny, laid back, easy to talk to with good advice and stylish'. He is a clean person and likes to take his time with everything, he's the chilled back member. He also likes to take his pillow wherever he goes.

Musically, Simon had occasionally rapped with Birmingham-based hip hop group 'Criminal Damage', before he decided to quit the football industry and join Blue.

Simon was a keen sportsman at school so needless to say his favourite subject was PE, and he was made captain of the football team. he also took part in many school productions and was voted in as head boy by his teachers and fellow students. Simon always dreamed of becoming a professional footballer but his plans were scrapped when he injured the ligaments in his ankles and was forced to take a rest from the game. but things soon started to look up when he won the modelling competition.

Shortly afterwards Simon moved to London and began working towards a music career as a solo artist but everything changed when he met lee Duncan and Anthony and they decided to form blue

Life can be a bit of a roller coaster in Simon's company; top dude he might be but there's a moody side too - but it's normally kept safely under wraps. Spend any amount of time with Simon and you'll witness him going through just about every emotion possible, and sometimes he'll be accused of being highly strung or even eccentric.

A good social life is the key to keeping Simon on the emotional straight and narrow - he's naturally optimistic and loves a good natter. The Moon in Simon's chart suggests this is the one guy in the group who was born for the public eye - there was never any other path open to him.

There's another side to Simon, inevitably with Gemini on the horizon when he was born. Simon can suddenly get overcome with shyness and clam up. Stand well back if Simon's been bottling his feelings up cos when they do come to the surface it's generally with a very large bang! This doesn't stop him being extremely sensitive to the needs of others which means that he's by far the most likely to dip his hand in his pocket and give to charity.

Apart from his success with Blue, Simon also has decided to take up band management under his own Music Management Company - Love 4 Music managing bands like VS, L.A.D.E and
Blarney. Official Site for VS is www.officialvs.com and a Unofficial Site for L.A.D.E.

 Official Biography from www.simonwebbe.net

After selling over 13 million records across the world with the massively successful band Blue, Simon Webbe slams back on to the UK music scene this summer with his debut solo single "Lay Your Hands".

At only 26 years old, Simon has already gained more experience in the music industry than many artists attain in a lifetime. As a member of Blue he has achieved phenomenal sales figures not only in the UK, but all across the globe. Blue have had an amazing forty No.1 singles worldwide, selling over 9.5 million albums and 3.5 million singles.

But how did Simon reach such dizzy heights?

He pinpoints his childhood church experiences as a major influence on his musical journey. As a boy, Simon's mother would take him to church four times a week. Here Simon would sing along to gospel songs and learn the harmonies. Unsurprisingly, at the age of eight Simon announced to his mother that he wanted to be an entertainer, letting her know, "I'm gonna do well in whatever I do!". A keen drama student at school, Simon took part in many productions as a young actor, even winning the lead in several performances.

Music was always played in the Webbe family home, and Simon grew up to the soulful sounds of acts such as Bill Withers, Bob Marley and various gospel acts. As Simon says: "I grew up listening to music, writing songs and singing to myself. I've always had passion for singing and song writing".

However, as Simon grew into his early teens, it became clear that his first love was football. His heart was set on becoming a professional footballer, and he spent every spare second practising and honing his skills. A natural talent, Simon was signed to the Port Vale "School Of Excellence" for four years from the age 14. After completing his training, his playing skills were scouted by both Liverpool and Aston Villa and a successful pro-football career beckoned. However, disaster struck at the age of 17 when Simon suffered a torn ligament during a match, with the injury preventing him from ever playing professionally.

It was after this injury that Simon's single mindedness to succeed came into play. If he wasn't going to make it as a professional footballer, then he decided he had to succeed in another career. His attention again turned to the entertainment industry.

Simon began auditioning as a singer and rapper for various bands and music projects, all the while writing songs for future use. In 1998, at the age of 19, Simon was spotted by a model scout and put forward for the prestigious Pride Magazine's "Face of the Year" competition. Simon’s good looks and distinctive features won the competition and a modelling contract.

Offers of work around the Manchester area flooded in, but although he had taken the first steps to a successful modeling career, Simon still had a hunger to be a singer and performer. Continuing to hit the audition circuit he met Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Antony Costa, Blue were formed and an incredible rollercoaster of success began.

Signed to one of the UK's leading labels, Innocent Records in 2000, the band Blue released their debut single 'All Rise' in May 2001. From the moment this uplifting track hit the airwaves it was clear that Blue had something special, a certain X factor. Suddenly it was OK to like pop again no matter how old you were. The next year saw the band achieve a meteoric rise to fame, becoming the hottest new act to emerge from the UK in years.

Blue gave Simon the chance to develop his natural song writing talents and explore his production ideas. Simon was the key songwriter on many of Blue’s biggest hits including 'All Rise', 'Fly By' and 'One Love'. In fact Simon either wrote or co-wrote six tracks on their first multi platinum album 'All Rise' and even more tracks on the two albums that followed 'One Love' and 'Guilty'.

For Simon, song writing is a non stop project. He says: "I always carry a Dictaphone with me in case ideas strike whilst I'm on the road. A melody or lyrical idea can hit you at any time and you have to be prepared!"

2005 has seen Simon sign a solo deal with Innocent Records, with the company allowing him to grow and develop his own sound organically. Simon has been involved in the song writing and production of his debut album every step of the way. "I had a very definite idea of what I wanted the record to sound like. I think it has surprised everyone, including my record company!"

The solo material showcases a new Simon Webbe, a softer, more soulful singer with thoughtful lyrics and beautiful melodies. As Simon explains; "I didn’t want to produce a UK r&b record. You’ve got Usher and Mario and they're doing r&b, and doing it very, very well. I chose not to go down that route as I wanted to create my own sound. It's all about the melody. I call my sound "urban folk". It’s a mixture of soulful vocals, urban beats and acoustic guitars."

The lead single 'Lay Your Hands', written by Simon with Matt Prime and Tim Woodcock, is a smooth slice of uplifting soulful pop. Featuring a lush string arrangement and laid back acoustic guitars, the song builds to an anthemic chorus that you just won’t be able to get out of your head. The track also showcases Simon's impressive vocal talents, highlighting a new maturity in his voice.

Simon says: "The single was inspired by the Bill Withers track 'Grandma's Hands'. I love the sentiment of that track. "Lay Your Hands" is about life in general, about me being a man and asking for help. You immediately feel better when someone gives you a hug and lays their hands on you".

'Lay Your Hands' provides a taster of what to expect from Simon's debut solo album, due later this year. "I'm really exploring lyrical themes with the album", Simon explains. "One track, 'After All This Time' is about a strong lady who holds down a household, but has a husband who thinks he's 17 when he's really 60. They’re a couple who’ve been through thick and thin and back again, they still love each other, after all this time. Another song 'A Little High' is about a marriage that goes stale. It's about rediscovering why you fell in love in the first place and getting that initial magic back."

However, despite recording such heartfelt musical material, Simon is not afraid to say he's scared at the prospect of becoming a solo artist after five years of being in a band with his best mates. "I'm used to seeing three other faces on stage and in the studio. It's all about me now, and only I can let myself down. I'm very nervous. It's a nice responsibility though."

In addition to his musical career, Simon is also pursuing his talents as an actor. He has to date filmed two movies, both due for release later in 2005. In 'The Truth About Love', Simon stars opposite Jennifer Love Hewitt, ironically as a professional footballer. The movie has already been a No.1 Box Office hit in Asia. The second film is UK Brit Flick 'Rolling With The Nines', a underworld drama which sees Simon star alongside Jason Statham, Vas Blackwood and Billy Murray.

Outside his music career, Simon is also a loving father to his eight year old daughter. Simon says: "Being a parent is a massive responsibility and one I take very seriously. Everything I do, I do for my daughter and she knows that."

Simon also owns a Manchester based modelling agency, 'Industry People' and runs a production company, 'UK Team' responsible for developing UK urban artists and signing the r&b act VS to Innocent Records in 2004.

Simon released his first single 'Lay Your Hands' on August 22nd and the finishing touches being made to his debut album throughout the summer, Simon is now ready to begin stage two of his massively successful career.

Simon launched his post-Blue career on the 22 August 2005 with his first solo single "Lay Your Hands" which peaked at #4 on the UK Singles Chart.

His follow up single "No Worries" established Simon as a solo star, reaching #4 in the "UK" and making him the only Blue member to have multiple top ten singles.

After the release of two singles Simon finally released his long awaited debut solo album "Sanctuary" which debuted at #28 on the UK Album Charts. Despite it's relatively low debut it eventually reached #7 on the charts and to this date has gone double-platinum.

The third single from "Sanctuary", "After All This Time" was released in February 2006 but due to poor promotion and a low budget video it failed to become his third top ten single and peaked at #16.

On the 30 October 2006 the first single off Simon's new album "Coming Around Again" and was described by Simon as "an uplifting slice of soulful pop" and as "a reminder of the highlights in your life". When released it reached #12 in the UK Singles Charts, which Simon himself admits as disappointing.

The second single "My Soul Pleads For You" was released on February 19, 2007 and charted at a dissapointing #45 on the singles chart.

On 21st May 2007 Simon launched his first ever live tour to support his sophmore album "Grace". The tour consists of 18 dates throug May and June starting-off in Cambridge and climaxing in London.

After his album and singles failure there was many reports suggesting that Simon had been dropped by Innocent Records, however these reports proved to be false and Simon carefully began plotting his next career move.

In early June it was announced that Simon will be releasing the the title track from his second studio album with the theme song from the upcoming motion picture entitled "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer". The single will be a double a-side release of "Grace / Ride The Storm".

Run.

During his recent May-June, 2007 live tour Simon previewed some new songs from his third studio album including Run which Simon said has already been "penciled" in as the first single and that it will possibly be used as the album title.

It has also been reported that the album will double as the soundtrack to Simon's upcomng film of the same name and that because the film is an action flick it will be a slightly heavier album.

After many years working and performing in music Simon appeared to want to add his creative abilities through other avenues in the entertainment industry, thus deciding to pursue a film career.

In 2004 he co-starred in the romantic-comedy "The Truth About Love", directed by John Hay.The film also featured renowned actors Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Dougray Scott and Jimi Mistry.

His second acting project was a 2006 British gangster movie entitled Rollin' With The Nines. The film co-starred Vas Blackwood, Billy Murray, Robbie Gee and was directed by Julian Gilbey.

He will follow these movies up with the upcoming 2007/08 movie directed by John McTiernan attentively titled "Run". The film which will be an action blockbuster also has Hollywood connections and will see him act alongside acclaimed New Zealand actor/performer Karl Urban.

Since entering the music industry Simon has used his profile to extend his range of business ventures. His two most notable companies are "Love 4 Music" and "Love 4 PR" both of which he co-runs with Jade Reuben.

He managed the mixed gender group VS (Jaime Summaz, Marvin Humes, Ryan Taylor, Chinyere McKenzie & Blimi) who supported Blue on their sell-out arena sized tour and were also signed to Blue's Innocent Records and released three singles Love You Like Mad (#7), Call U Sexy (#11) and Make It Hot (#29) plus a album called "All Kinds of Trouble". Currently all members of the band are working on different solo projects.

He also managed American/British girlband L.A.D.E. who's video for their unreleased single "Shake It Off" featured Simon and ex-Blue bandmate Duncan James, in return the girls appeared in Blue's single "Bubblin'". It is unknown their current professional music status.
